Mount Vernon's Tulip Poplar is one of the most significant trees planted by President and General George Washington. The Tulip Poplar is the second print in Stephen Malkoff's for the National Register of Historic Trees series.

Mount Vernon's garden has received a great deal of international attention about its efforts to preserve the botanical heritage of the 13 surviving trees planted by President Washington. You can learn more about this project by clicking here.

The tulip poplar was planted in 1785 by Washington, on the grounds of Mount Vernon, his home on the Potomac. More than two centuries later, the original Tulip Poplar continues to stand. Through the work of the National Arboretum, this tulip poplar is one of 1,000 descendants produced and sold through American Forests' Famous and Historic Trees Program.

Unframed print size: 18" x 22½"
